The time is right to join HNTB! We are seeking a Traffic/Transportation Planning Engineer in our growing Kansas City, MO office.
The successful candidate should have some background in transportation planning or traffic engineering, as well as strong speaking and writing skills. The Candidate should have a desire to use common traffic analysis software such as Highway Capacity Software, Synchro and VISSIM.
Assists assigned department by performing basic engineering-related tasks including research, development, design and delivery on assigned project(s).
Contributes to the preparation or modification of reports, plans and designs for projects.
Assists in the preparation of project quantity and cost estimates.
Performs other duties as assigned.
- Works closely with other team members to maintain a successful transportation practice - Collects raw data and organizes it in a form ready for analysis - Assists in preparation of comprehensive plans and studies - Works from designs and plans of others, compiles data, performs basic design and technical computations, and prepares drawings/presentation boards for limited portions of projects - Assists in the production of concepts, graphics and reports - Assists in the development of presentation materiasl, reports or report layout - Applies recognized tools of analysis and provides comprehensive review of the data
General Work Conditions
Combination Office and Field Environment: Most work is performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use. Work may infrequently be performed at client’s job site, construction trailer, and in the field. Work may sometimes require working in inclement weather, working in a construction site, being exposed to heavy construction equipment and doing extensive walking. Adherence to applicable safety protocol is required.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering by December 2017 - Experience in Microsoft Office (Outlook Word, Excel, PowerPoint) - Experience with Highway Capacity Software (HCS), VISSIM, and/or Synchro preferred - Internship or co-op experience preferred - Engineer-In-Training (EIT) preferred - Excellent verbal and written communication skills
