Haysite Reinforced Plastics is seeking an experienced Pultrusion Process Engineer to join our talented manufacturing team. The Pultrusion Process Engineer is Haysite’s on-site expert in all aspects of pultrusion engineering. This person will design, create, implement,and support the entire pultrusion process including tooling, material specifications, and associated documentation for all new pultrusion products. In addition, the Process Engineer will provide technical support for the Quality and Sales teams, and troubleshooting support for the Manufacturing team. They will be responsible for managing projects, building a team to address manufacturing issues, and generally acting as the "go-to" engineering resource for the pultrusion department.
Provide continuous improvement support to operations and become the onsite expert in operational processes, while managing multiple projects in a fast paced manufacturing environment.
Assist in dealing with day to day processing and customer issues as needed.
Work with internal personnel and outside tool shops to manage new mold and die builds and existing tooling refurbishments.
Design necessary tooling (including forming systems) to prepare for production on newly obtained jobs.
Work with experimental resin formulations and pre-production tooling to create samples for customer examination and property testing.
Develop, input and maintain B.O.M.’s and routers.
Design new part constructions to achieve customers’ desired application and/or property requirements.
Work within an ERP system to submit new part quotes in a timely and concise manner.
Conduct new hire training and provide product and process technical support to production.
Implement new or modified processes to enhance manufacturing capabilities.
Investigate, evaluate and execute projects and problems within the scope of manufacturing.
Analyze and resolve work problems or assist others in solving work problems.
Investigate and determine causes and resolution of nonconformity to specifications and causes of operating or production problems.
Design new equipment and improve existing equipment integral to the pultrusion process.
Work with QA personnel and external organizations to direct and specify mechanical, physical, and electrical property testing on materials and parts.
Maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yield, costs and changeovers.
Develop and implement innovative solutions to manufacturing problems/issues
Drive production efficiency improvements to reduce labor & component cost, & maximize quality.
Interact with suppliers as necessary on QA or process improvement related matters
Provide technical assistance to production and development personnel as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Knowledge, Skills & Ability:Knowledgeable about all facets related to pultrusion process engineering including:
Tooling design to include dies, puller pads, and pre-forming systems
Production Support and Troubleshooting
Process Design and Optimization
New Product Development
New Part Quoting
Bachelor’s degree in chemical, composite, mechanical engineering or similar
Practical/applied experience in lean manufacturing environment desirable.
Experience with six sigma methodologies desirable.
3-5 years minimum direct/relevant work experience
Superior written and verbal communication skills
Proficient with 3D modeling software. SolidWorks 2016 preferred.
