The Thermal Protection Systems (TPS) is responsible for the passive insulation and sealing systems that protect the spacecraft from the extreme heat of re-entry. The TPS team spans many disciplines to succeed; ranging from hypersonic CFD, transient thermal analysis, brittle ceramic and composite stress analysis, mechanical and sealing design, extending to manufacture and installation of exotic materials. The TPS system interacts with virtually every other subsystem on the spacecraft, offering a broad and dynamic range of experience along with opportunity for growth. Moreover, it is not mandatory that candidates have prior experience with TPS or spaceflight. Generate and interpret blueprints, technical drawings and schematics
Write specifications, control documents, verification and validation plans, procedures, reports, or other documentation in support of design and development activities
Detailed Drafting of Mechanical Parts
Composition and editing of technical documents
Work with other Engineers to implement operating procedures, resolve system issues and provide technical information
Other duties as assigned
Responsible for thoughtful adherence to all SNC Policies, Procedures, and Compliance regulations (internal and external)
Responsible for timely execution of all personnel-related activities such as Time Sheet completion, Performance Evaluations, Salary Reviews, Succession Planning, etc.
Ability to obtain/maintain a security clearance may be required.

Advanced CAD surfacing techniques

Education and Experience
Requires an Associate’s Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, Drafting, or other related degree.
3+ years related experience
Experience and skills in project definition, simulation, implementation, lab integration and test
