As a member of the Transportation Planning & Design team in the Infrastructure Planning and Design Branch, you will have a leading role in the management of transportation projects and programs as they advance through the concept and preliminary design phases.
Over the next several years, the main focus for this Senior Engineer will be on the planning and design for the Yellowhead Trail Freeway Conversion Program. Future work may include planning and design for new and renewal projects including: streetscapes, bridges, roads, LRT, transit, and active transportation projects.
Our Senior Engineers are also able to see projects through later phases by providing support to the City’s Transportation Infrastructure Delivery Team during the detailed design and delivery stages of the project.

In your new role, you will be involved with:
Management of multiple complex internal and external projects with emphasis on budget, schedule, scope, and quality
Coordination with Corporate Procurement and Supply Services for the procurement of engineering consultants
Preparation and administration of Professional Service Agreements including: project scope, schedules, and payment terms
Preparation and maintenance of project management documentation as per the City’s project management procedures
Coordination and Engagement:
Collaborating with other City departments in the development and execution of Public Engagement Engagement Plans
Actively participating in public engagement activities, including leading open houses, presentations and one-on-one meetings to provide information, build awareness, and/or gather feedback on projects
Coordinating feedback from project stakeholders to ensure collaborative, effective, and efficient project delivery
Responding to inquiries received from the public, other City groups, and Council
Coordinating and conducting meetings, workshops and liaising with other business units at the City of Edmonton and external partner agencies
Coordinating with technical professionals to develop concept and preliminary engineering drawings based on City design and construction standards and policies
Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering from a recognized institution
Minimum 7 years progressively responsible experience in municipal or related project engineering. Candidates with less experience may be considered at a developmental level.
Registered as a P.Eng with APEGA or with the Professional Engineering Association of another province/territory of Canada.
Familiar with transportation design guidelines and principles, City Bylaws, Servicing Standards, procedures and specifications
Demonstrated knowledge in relation to interchanges, railway grade separations, land acquisitions and public engagement
Ability to interact effectively and professionally with the public and other stakeholders
Strong project management skills and the ability to manage external consultants
Ability to mentor, coach, educate and drive the project forward achieving deliverables
Strong ability to multitask and produce results in a changing municipal environment
Proficient in the use of Google applications (including Gmail) is an asset
Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position
