Taylor Engineering, Inc. seeks to hire a detail-oriented staff-levelengineer to join our Destin Florida office. The engineer will support an array of waterfront structural and coastal engineering projects and specific responsibilities will likely support the following tasks.
Planning, analysis, design, inspection, and permitting of waterfront or earthen structures such as sheet pile anchoring systems, seawalls, bulkheads, hydraulic control structures, marine foundation, marinas, piers, docks, shoreline protection, dredging, and dredged material management systems
Coastal process analyses, inlet management, analyses & impacts of shore protection, and feasibility studies
Shore protection design and permitting including beach nourishment and living shorelines
Artificial reef design, permitting, and monitoring
Construction observation and administration
Preparation of technical submittals including letters, technical reports, figures, and tables
Assist in work activities and communicate with various municipality, utility, and government regulating agencies
Support environmental scientists with fieldwork including seagrass surveys, wetland delineations, and environmental monitoring
Aerial photography (UAV operation)
Other miscellaneous tasks assigned by project managers
A qualified candidate will possess the following:
Education: Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering or other applicable engineering discipline; preferably with Master of Science in Civil, Coastal, or Structural Engineering
Experience: 0 – 4 years in structural or coastal engineering, preferably with marine structures
Registration: EIT registration and ability and desire to obtain a Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license
Skills: Effective oral and written English communication, word processing, working knowledge of computer aided design software (CAD)
Additional experience in these areas is desirable:
Proven ability to motivate, initiate, and innovate
Design/analysis of steel, concrete, and/or earthen structures
Construction observation and administration experience specific to waterfront structures
Academic background of wave mechanics and littoral processes
Programming familiarity with Matlab, Excel/VBA, etc.
Preparation design calculations, drawings, technical specifications, and technical reports
Community involvement in engineering-based societies or organizations
Small craft operation, UAV operation
