We are looking for a Business Improvement Engineer to build and deliver a strong pipeline of transformation initiatives covering the Global Borates business.
Rio Tinto Borates operates globally providing borates to world markets. From our location in Boron, California we supply refined borates which are key ingredients in fiberglass, glass, ceramics, fertilisers, wood preservatives and many other products.
What the role entails
This Business Improvement Engineer role is a great opportunity to gain exposure to the various areas of the Rio Tinto Borates business over quality improvement projects.
Reporting to the Productivity Lead of Rio Tinto Borates, you be:
Leading business improvement projects
Ensuring compliance with existing and new processes, systems and tools to manage projects and track the associated value delivered
Deploying the use of business improvement methods and tools over various projects
Training peers and providing coaching to the teams to support the adoption of a business improvement culture
Developing and maintain effective relationships with leaders and employees
What you will need for this role
To succeed in this role, you will have:
Bachelor’s degree in a business related field
5-10 years of operational experience with previous exposure to Business Improvement projects
Ability to analyze data to present improvement opportunities with metrics to report results
Interest in getting into the details of various areas of the Business (both technical and functional)
Ability to communicate at all levels within the organisation.
Lead workshops and workgroups.
It will also be beneficial if you have:
Black Belt or other Business Improvement qualification (Lean Six Sigma)
Knowledge of other Business Improvement systems and tools
