Wood is currently seeking a Junior Environmental Scientist / Engineer-In-Training to join our environmental site assessment and remediation team in Mississauga, Ontario. The successful candidate will possess knowledge of Phased Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) and associated technical skills as well as knowledge of applicable federal guidelines and provincial regulations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
All aspects of a Phase I ESA including site inspection, historical research, regulatory agency contact, data interpretation and report preparation
Field sampling of soil, groundwater, surface water, air and soil vapour
Use and maintenance of various field instrumentation
Subcontractor liaison and supervision (e.g. drillers, excavators, utility locators, etc.)
Prepare basic Phase II ESA reports or support senior personnel in the preparation of more complex reports
Skills / Qualifications
University Degree in a related field such as environmental science, geology, geography, or environmental/civil engineering
Eligibility for Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) designation is preferred
Relevant experience would be an asset
Ability to work safely and responsibly with minimal supervision as well as within a larger project team
Ability to manage the demands of multiple concurrent projects
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Proficiency with AutoCAD is an asset
Eligibility for Eco Canada Internship and asset
Must possess a valid class G driver’s license, an insurable driving record and a vehicle
