THE PRINCIPAL CIVIL / STRUCTURAL ENGINEER leads a group of civil and structural engineers and is a key member of a multi-discipline design team. The ideal candidate will be an expert in site planning, grading, storm water management and road design. They will work with and mentor junior civil engineers and designers to provide civil engineering solutions to clients. They will work with a group of experienced and junior civil and structural engineers and designers to plan and organize their work to ensure client needs are met on time and within budget.
Lead civil engineers and designers in performing civil engineering and design work (site plans, grading plans, storm water mitigation, erosion control management, and road design) for projects related to the Oil and Gas industry
Review and approve all work produced by junior civil engineers
Assist senior structural engineers with planning of work and organizing resources
Coordinate work in the civil/structural group with other engineering disciplines
Lead, motivate, develop and provide technical support to engineering and design staff within the group
Plan and provide training opportunities for the group related to their disciplines
Perform annual reviews of engineering team members helping to set and achieve professional development goals and, in general, helping team members to expand their technical abilities
Manage multi-discipline engineering projects coordinating all engineering work to ensure overall project schedules and budgets are met. Interface with clients and upper management to provide status reports and communicate issues, needed scope changes and recommendations.
Assist upper management with development of engineering estimates, proposals and bids for new projects
10+ years of civil engineering and design experience
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
Must have PE License
NCEES record preferred
Expertise in site planning, grading and storm water management required
Experience with horizontal directional drill design preferred
Experience in oil and gas pipelines, tank farm and/or pump and meterings stations preferred
Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Carlson Software
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Project
Must be skilled at written and verbal communications in English
Must be action oriented, with ethical values and have strong sense of community and teamwork
