The Quality Technician monitors and audits the quality of all products. This position is responsible for product quality, including purchased and assembled products and will monitor, test and inspect products to make sure they meet our specified standards.
Performs detailed mechanical and visual inspection of component parts following a sampling plan and inspection instructions using standard measuring and test equipment.
Performs root cause analysis on customer returns and provides reports to Customer Service.
Records and files results.
Inputs data in database using information obtained from evaluations.
Performs first article pre-production inspection of new components and component changes as needed.
Performs in-house, in-process subassembly inspection as needed
Makes dispositions on non-conforming assemblies and records database on a weekly basis
Creates pareto charts based on non-conformance database for monthly quality report
Coordinates requirements for vendor certification
Calibrates and make arrangements for calibration of inspection equipment and torque drivers as needed
Generates reports from databases on supplier parts
Performs inspection on salvaged parts and assemblies for production use and line rejects.
Maintains focus on continuous improvement by applying 80/20, PLS, and USa principles/techniques and makes process improvement recommendations to management.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. An Associate’s degree in a technical trade preferred.
Five (5) years previous related experience with extensive knowledge of quality/test processes and procedures.
Mechanical inspection skills
Failure analysis and blue print reading skills
Statistical sampling knowledge/implementation and chemical & electrical knowledge
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
Computer experience required
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings especially those with geometric tolerating and dimensioning
Good problem solving, decision making, multi-tasking and teamwork skills
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
Good oral and written communication skills are required
