This is a multi-level position that can be a salary grade G09 or G10 based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibilities required for the position.
The Operations Quality Engineer will work within integrated teams to analyze, control and improve product quality in the RMS internal factories by conducting the following activities:
Systematically translate, analyze, and prioritize customer needs, legal and contractual requirements, and company policy and objectives into quality performance standards; analyze/validate measurement system capabilities;
Analyze product performance using statistical methods to understand root cause and identify significant variances to predicted/targeted values
Perform analysis of nonconformities to characterize causes and develop effective containment and elimination plans;
Integrate performance and conformance verifications such as First Articles and audits throughout value stream processes to prevent quality escapes, optimize throughput and ensure on-time delivery of products and services
Assure clear identification, physical control and competent disposition of nonconformities; and manage the interface and sell-off of products to downstream operations or end-item customer quality representatives.
Four to Six years related Quality Engineering experience
Demonstrated ability to lead cross functional process improvement teams
Competency and experience in a relevant technical discipline with understanding of engineering principles and design analysis techniques
Ability to lead cross-functional teams in failure analysis, root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions and implement robust process controls
Experience in supporting design and manufacturing processes
Experience in development/usage of Quality metrics and the identification/institution of perceptive verifications
Experience and knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, CMMI or Mission Assurance Provisions
Experience with Six Sigma methodology and tools such as lean manufacturing and continuous improvement
Hands on use of statistical process controls for process monitoring, qualification and/or design feedback
Experience working with external suppliers and inspection techniques
Ability to understand drawings, work instructions, Bill of Materials, consumable materials control, process disciplines and tool control
Manufacturing process knowledge (assembly, inspection, test)
Ability to obtain secret clearance
Required Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics Master’s Degree in a similar discipline preferred
