This position is at the Assistant/Associate level. Under the direction of a Housing and Neighborhoods Principal Planner, the Climate Program Manager will oversee MTC's Climate Initiatives Program, which is a range of strategies that reduce transportation-related greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. This position is in the Housing and Neighborhoods section of the Integrated Regional Planning Program serving the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC). In addition to developing and managing strategies in the Climate Initiatives Program, the person in this position will also work on projects that support the work of the Housing and Neighborhoods team.
The Climate Program Manager will work with internal and external stakeholders to develop programs and policies and help frame decision-making to expand Bay Area residents' mobility and housing options. The ideal candidate will understand the theory behind successful TDM and parking programs, and approach implementation with creative solutions to meet the region's statutory greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets as well as understand the relationship of climate-related programs and policies to transportation and land use decisions made at the local jurisdiction level.
A key objective of the position is advancing climate strategies/programs effectively. The ideal candidate will bring strong project and consultant management experience with a successful track record of implementing projects including the ability to identify trends to develop new programs or strategies that are integrated with, and support local, sub-regional and regional policies and programs. To accomplish this, creativity, on-the-ground experience and entrepreneurship are skills we are seeking from the person filling this position.

Education: A Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field related to the area of assignment, such as transportation planning, city and regional planning; transportation engineering or modeling, financial management, economics, business or public administration. A Master's degree is desirable.
