ODOT's Facilities Services Branch is seeking a highly skilled and efficient professional engineer to provide advanced structural engineering and architectural expertise for the planning, construction, and maintenance of transportation facilities.
In this role, you will act as the sole agency engineering expert for the management of ODOT's 1,100 facilities, including providing direction and guidance on the development of facility related standards, procedures, and policies.

Act as agency's only registered professional engineer working on developing department's policies on SPCC containment systems to meet the mandate requirements.
Independently research, develop, design and prepare drawings and specifications for highly complex transportation facilities projects.
Evaluate and analyze extremely complex engineering problems that arise during development, design, and construction of projects.
Propose and initiate sophisticated engineering methods such as rigid diaphragm torsional analysis.
Implement advanced procedures including the use of pre-manufactured assemblies and components.
Develop project scoping and cost estimating templates.
Verify and validate completed project templates for consistency and provide final approval.
Maintain a statewide Facilities Design Standards program to provide strategic direction for Facilities engineering and new building construction.
Ensure that all newly constructed ODOT buildings and facilities conform to state "green building" sustainability policies and regulations.
Research and evaluate new and original technologies, products, methods and building systems related to facilities engineering.
Advise facilities personnel in planning, coordinating, and reviewing work to accomplish projects within budget and schedule.
Provide research and compile evidence and documentation for legal proceedings.
Provide training on code changes and legal requirements to agency staff and present topics of interest to professional engineering or facilities organizations.
Assist in the development of capital construction, capital improvement, safety rest area rehabilitation, and major maintenance plans.
Review all applicable facilities engineering design codes to ensure that there are no conflicts with ODOT policies and submit proposed code changes to code.
Respond to facility-related emergencies as needed and participate in agency emergency operation drills and training.

A valid Professional Engineer's (PE) license in civil, structural, or transportation-related engineering.

Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of advanced energy efficiency technologies and practices.
Excellent technical analytical skills in structural, civil, architectural MEP and energy-related systems.
Experience working with local code agencies and thorough understanding of code requirements to design and advise stakeholders in the development of design and construction projects.
Strong policy analysis skills with structural, civil, architectural, MEP and energy-related tools and technology determining the best design and construction solution.
Experience writing clear and concise reports and other written materials of a technical nature.
Experience with stakeholder communication and advisory panels providing clear and concise communication regarding facilities design and business requirements.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Working knowledge of BIM design and drafting tools.
