The Fire Safety Technician will be primarily accountable for inspecting and testing fire alarms, including testing batteries in panels, identifying deficiencies and troubleshooting issues to determine required repairs and ensuring compliance and minimizing risk for fire and life safety. Accountable for oversight of assigned fire and life safety programs, under the direction of the Fire Safety Manager, to ensure the highest level of fire and life protection and adherence to regulatory compliance.
The position's primary focus will be:
Schedule and inspect Fire Alarm systems in compliance with all applicable codes.
Maintain certifications and licenses relevant to fire alarm maintenance, inspection and repairs.
Maintain/obtain knowledge of applicable regulations and technical skills through professional development/training to ensure compliance.
Maintain timely and accurate records in compliance with NFPA 72 and any other regulatory codes.
Coordinate corrective actions for deficiencies in safety equipment.
Actively manage Fire Alarm Reporting Systems (e.g. Keltron)
Serve as the on campus expert for all relevant systems within scope of position (e.g. fire alarms, fire alarm reporting systems, fire extinguishers)
Oversee Emergency Lights, Hot Work, and Fire Extinguisher Program, including supervising student workers.
Create documentation and conduct training programs, as needed, for other fire safety programs.
Assist with other Fire and Life Safety Management programs, as assigned.
