Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure is seeking a Civil Engineer with approximately 4 to 5 years’ experience to join our team located in Kennesaw, Georgia. We are looking for a self-motivated candidate who is able to work as part of a project team, can multitask, has strong hands-on knowledge of AutoCad, strong technical writing skills; can perform draft engineering fee estimates, and can prepare technical reports, drawings, and calculations for review. The position will include work on a variety of multi-disciplinary projects that have a substantial emphasis on general civil design including grading, stormwater management, permitting, and project related client interaction.
Key Responsibilities This person will be a member of a team providing primarily civil engineering services to government, local agencies, private industry, and commercial clients. This position will support a wide variety of projects including stormwater, earthwork, and construction projects. The responsibilities of this position include the following:
•Perform hydraulics and hydrology calculations •Perform field exploration, inspection, and analysis; provide technical support with supervision •Prepare field reports, internal correspondence and sections of formal reports •Prepare hydrology and other reports, run engineering computer programs •Interpret data and test results, write complete reports •May be assigned limited field construction oversight responsibilities. Ability to conduct or oversee some field assignments, and willingness for limited travel •Supervise subcontractors and / or company employees •Follow company safety standards, site safety standards •Conduct engineering or scientific calculations; perform design work, analysis, and layout •Contact vendors; research literature and regulatory requirements; prepare draft designs •Participate and perform civil engineering computations, analysis, and design. The work will include engineering analysis, feasibility studies, designs, preparation of drawings and specifications, report writing, cost estimating, construction oversight and client interaction •Interact with specialists in other technical practice areas in support of multi-disciplinary projects
Skills / Qualifications •BS or MS degree in Civil Engineering •4 to 5 years of related experience •E.I.T., F.E., or P.E. •Experience with desktop and industry-specific software (e.g., MS Office, MS Excel, MicroStation, AutoCAD, Hydraflow, GIS, Civil 3D, MS Project) and familiarity with hydraulics and hydrologic computer models like HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS desired •Valid driver's license is required •A physical exam may be required to obtain medical clearance on hazardous waste sites •Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required •Outgoing / team player with strong communication and problem solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
Physical Demands •Must be able to do limited travel and perform unimpeded standing and walking in industrial and field environments for up to 8 hours per workday •Must be physically capable of performing work in health and safety (H&S) personal protective equipment (PPE)
