Salary will be based on experience. We also offer a year-end bonus based on your design.
Design the fire sprinkler systems for commercial, industrial, and residential buildings as well as the finished representation using drawings, drafting skills and tools. The drawings produced will be used as a guide by every other link in the chain of construction, both on-site and in the office. Close coordination with the Project Manager, Superintendent and Estimating Department will be required throughout the life of the project.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design and Layout of fire sprinkler systems
Review customer source control drawings, specification control drawings and other applicable specifications to determine requirements and/or feasibility of product
Sketch and perform mathematical computations to develop design and detailed specifications of components
Apply knowledge of mathematical formulas and physical laws and use conventional and computerized work aids to make calculations
Perform preliminary and advanced work in development of working layouts and final master drawings, adequate for detailing parts and units of design for new proposals and current designs
Revise size, shape and arrangement of parts to create practical design drawings
Prepare acceptance test procedures and assembly instructions
Assist with the preparation of proposal documentation, technical data such as qualification test procedures, reports, component maintenance manuals, etc.
Design studies, tolerance stack-ups, layouts, drawings, calculations, weight estimates, supporting documentation, etc., are to be completed on CAD or other computer applications
Analyze new & existing buildings for NFPA 13, 14 and 20 compliance, compose reports detailing design changes necessary
Prepare submittal drawings and documentation for new sprinkler systems and alterations to existing systems
Conduct hydraulic analysis of fire sprinkler system designs, including sprinklers, standpipes, pumps, municipal supplies, etc.
Coordination of sprinkler system with architectural, structural and mechanical systems
Review construction drawings and specifications
Updating of shop drawings and materials for project record and close out procedures
Associate degree in a science or engineering discipline
AutoCAD experience and working knowledge of NFPA 13, 14 and 20
Senior Designer: Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years AutoSprink or HydroCAD experience, NICET L3 or L4 Certification
