The Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Arizona invites applications for a tenure-track/tenured faculty position in nonequilibrium processes related to high-speed flows. Technical expertise in areas of plasma physics, chemical reactions, reacting flows and computational physics is desired. Candidates with demonstrated knowledge in theory and new computational approaches will be viewed favorably. Appointments may be at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor, although Assistant Professor is envisioned. The position can begin as early as January 2019.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop and teach graduate and undergraduate courses in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering, establish an internationally recognized and externally funded research program, advise and mentor graduate and undergraduate students, including those historically underrepresented in higher education, and undertake service activities within the University and in the professional community at national and international levels. Opportunities exist for synergy with research activities in the Department and the University, including an initiative in Hypersonic Aerothermodynamics and Materials.
Required qualifications are a Ph.D. degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline, and demonstrated research potential or accomplishments. Interested applicants are asked to submit:
