The Department of Engineering Technology at Texas State University is seeking a tenure track associate professor or professor in the Concrete Industry Management (CIM) program. The successful candidate will serve as the Program Director and will be responsible for program leadership and selected administrative functions, in addition to teaching courses and conducting research. This position is a 12-month faculty position.
The director serves as the key departmental representative to the local and national concrete industry, the CIM National Steering Committee, and CIM programs at other universities. A prominent feature of the director’s responsibilities is travel with other faculty and students to trade shows, professional conferences, and regional and national level competitions throughout the year. The director manages a continuous student recruitment campaign, coordinates curriculum initiatives, directs learning outcomes assessments, guides accreditation efforts, mentors junior faculty, and provides administrative support to the department chair. In addition to teaching concrete industry management and related construction courses, the individual selected will be expected to support the wider teaching mission of the department. Other responsibilities will include the securing of external funding, conducting and publishing research relevant to concrete industry management and appropriate for an emerging research institution, and engagement in departmental and university service activities.
CIM is one of only four such programs in the nation. This innovative program of study is drawn from the areas of construction management, business management, civil engineering, and concrete production and practice. The department is housed in the College of Science and Engineering, which is home to six academic departments and the Ingram School of Engineering. The college offers an interdisciplinary Ph.D. program in materials science engineering and commercialization.
Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in civil engineering or construction management, and an undergraduate degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited program, or an undergraduate degree in construction management from an ACCE or ABET accredited program, or an AACSB accredited undergraduate degree in business if accompanied by a doctoral degree in either civil engineering or construction management. Clear English speaking and writing skills are required. To be considered for the ranks of associate professor or professor, a candidate must meet the requirements for those ranks at Texas State University.
