Poole Fire Protection is looking for a creative and innovative Fire Sprinkler Designer for the Kansas City Area. The Fire Sprinkler Designer prepares code compliant fire sprinkler designs using HydraCAD and/or AutoSPRINK software for commercial, industrial, and residential buildings.
Responsible for all aspects of sprinkler design, including hydraulic calculations, shop drawing preparation, stock listing, and project management
Design and layout of fire protection systems to meet NFPA, and/or FM criteria
Coordinate piping layout with other trades
Troubleshoot issues raised by AHJ, customers and installers
Prepare hydraulic calculations and project submittal drawings
Receive and respond to customer design needs
Correspond with municipalities and AHJs for design needs
Maintain project drawing files and associated files
Assists in field surveys and system testing/commissioning
Job Expectations and Requirements:
Previous experience in the fire protection industry (minimum three years)
NICET II or above in Fire Protection Water-Based Systems
Competent working knowledge of applicable NFPA standards
Ability to read and effectively interpret architectural/engineering plans, schematics, design drawings, etc.
Proficient in HydraCAD and/or AutoSPRINK
Proficient in AutoCAD
Good interpersonal and communication skills combined with the ability to work with minimal supervision
Must be responsible, personable, detail oriented, and self-motivated with solid organization and time management skills that lead to timely completion of projects
Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
Fire pump design experience
Low-, Medium-, and High-Expansion Foam design experience
HydraCAD for Revit and/or AutoSPRINK RVT experience
DoD project experience with knowledge of UFC Codes
The position includes minimal travel (0% to 15%). The position will be based out of Olathe, Kansas (Kansas City). Candidates must successfully complete an employment background investigation and drug screening. Compensation will be based on skill and experience, and will consist of a competitive salary along with a compensation and incentive program.
