As a Fire Protection Design Engineer III, you'll assist on the designs of Fire Suppression, Fire Detection systems, and do Life Safety Code Analysis on several large commercial projects.
What you'll be doing:
Assist senior designers and engineers in fire suppression and detection system design tasks
Assist in creation of calculations, drawings and specifications related to fire suppression and detection systems
Assist in coordinating all aspects of the project design with project management, architects and other trades through the completion phase of a project
Perform and review CAD and REVIT drafting work, calculations, fabrication reports, cut-sheets and field prints
Learn and apply applicable codes, specifications and criteria required to support the design of multiple projects
Examine field conditions, conceptual and construction documents to develop a constructible system
Complete calculations, drawings and specifications related to fire suppression and detection systems for small projects
Oversees entire lifecycle of small project as it pertains to fire protection including layout, permit procurement, field surveys, coordination, creation of fabrication lists, answering and assist with field generated questions, RFI creation, and as-builts.

Able to provide basic zone layout and design drawings, calculations, and material submittals
Effectively communicate projections and issues to managers and project managers
Able to provide all information to project managers for change orders
Responsibility for project design budget
Displays basic management skills
Shows strong attention to detail in submittals, fabrication drawings and surveys
Takes responsibility for meeting deliverable deadlines
Able to competently and accurately decipher contract drawings, calculations, and specifications
Able to competently and effectively coordinate projects
Competent in basic computer skills include CAD and Microsoft Office products
Works under direct supervision for larger projects
Regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment
May provide technical guidance to less-experienced designers/ engineers.

Excellent working knowledge of fire protection design, building codes, types of equipment utilized in the industry, and system operations.
Proficient knowledge in use of HydraCad or AutoSprink, REVIT, NAVIS and Microsoft Office products.
4 to 6+ years of experience in a related field; two-year certificate from college or technical school in related course work preferred; NICET III desirable or desire to pursue one.
