City Engineer

The City of North Richland Hills Public Works Department is responsible for the roadway network (including traffic systems), water distribution system, wastewater collection system and drainage system throughout the City’s 18.2 square mile corporate limits in northeast Tarrant County. The purpose of this position is to account for the oversight and review activities of engineering and construction projects for commercial and private development and capital improvement projects. This is accomplished by coordinating engineering and construction projects, administering capital improvement designs and construction activities, supervising personnel and making presentations to various boards and commissions. Other duties include providing public relations support, overseeing flood plain administration and interacting with other City employees and citizens. This position provides direction to other employees. This position will attend Planning and Zoning meetings to present and explain specific development projects that are under consideration by the commission. This position will serve as an active member of the City’s Development Review Committee through both plan review and weekly case discussion. The City Engineer will assist and provide direction to surveyors and engineers in obtaining specific information that they may need for a development project and provide Rough Proportionality Determinations as required by state law and city ordinances for all new developments.  A good candidate for this position will have very strong oral and written communication skills, be confident, personable and have a real desire to serve in the public sector.
