The USACE Fort Worth District is involved in numerous cutting edge studies locally, nationally, and worldwide. Studies support flood risk management, dam and levee safety, water supply, and river / lake forecasting. Training in HEC-RAS and HEC-HMS and other programs is provided annually to maintain professional certification. RequirementsBachelor's degree (or higher degree) in engineering that included at least 30 semester hours in any combination of courses in hydrology, the physical sciences, geophysics, chemistry, engineering science, soils, mathematics, atmospheric science, meteorology, geology, or the management or conservation of water resources. One year of specialized experience which includes the following: 1.) Mentoring lower graded engineers in Hydrology and Hydraulics modeling AND 2.) Compiling field hydraulic and/or hydrology survey data for use in Flood Risk Management modeling; AND 3.) Conducting Hydraulic and/or Hydrology studies for existing Flood Risk projects to provide recommendations for modifications. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). |
