Under supervision, the Associate Engineer performs professional and technical level engineering work in design, investigation, construction and maintenance of public works projects. Incumbents at this level manage capital improvement projects and provide supervision over technical and administrative staff. 

The ideal candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major course work in civil engineering or related field AND four (4) years of professional full-time experience in civil engineering, capital improvement project planning, and/or municipal engineering. Supervisory experience highly desired. Possession of State of California Board of Registration for Civil and Professional Engineers Engineering-In-Training (EIT) certificate and a valid California Class C Driver’s License and Certificate of Automobile Insurance for Personal Liability is required.  Registration as a Civil Engineer or Traffic Engineer in the State of California is highly desired.
