Nature of Work
The Facilities Electrician is a highly skilled position responsible for performing work related to electrical projects and provides planning, oversight, direction and inspection of electrical work/projects performed by other qualified teammates that is potentially or specifically subject to City/State review/inspection. Under general direction, this position performs a variety of technical maintenance duties and some custodial and grounds work for Rochester Parks Department facilities to ensure systems are properly maintained, clean, and safe.  Primary areas of responsibility include inspection, maintenance, and repairs to electrical systems, heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, mechanical, structural, security and building automation systems. Secondary tasks may include carpentry, painting, custodial, and grounds work, etc.  

Education and Experience
An Associate Degree in electrical or electronics technology from an accredited college and four years of experience performing electrical maintenance work
OR 
A high school diploma or equivalent and five years of experience performing electrical maintenance work.  

An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job may also be considered.  

Licenses and/or Certifications 
Valid Class B Minnesota driver's license or ability to obtain within 6 months
Current Minnesota Class A Master Electrician license or licensed Journeyman Electrician with ability to obtain Master Electrician license to meet the job requirements within 6 months  

Desirable Qualifications 
Experience installing or maintaining lighting and control systems and air conditioning and HVAC control systems
Valid Class A driver’s license
