Travel Travel to project sites throughout service areas and to other DE offices as required.
Job Description • Oversee potable water, wastewater and/or drainage projects or studies. • Direct, coordinate and exercise functional authority over project engineers, engineering technicians/draftsmen and resident inspectors for the planning, organization, integration, execution of, and completion of projects. • Managing the operational aspects of the scope for a project. • Performs work involving the application of all conventional aspects of civil engineering to the functional area of the assignment. • Oversee the review of project design for compliance with engineering principles, organizational standards, contractual requirements, and related specifications. • Exercises judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. • Conceptualizes the civil design approach for major phases of water resources related projects, experience in schematics and final design (PS&E). • Perform design of potable water, wastewater and/or drainage systems. • Plans, schedules, conducts or coordinates work for water resources projects or studies. Also, supervises the design and ongoing progress of a project, including the coordination of the project with City, State, and County/Parish officials, and other outside agencies. • Resolves a variety of complex problems, (i.e. conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, difficult coordination requirements). • Serves as a liaison between clients and agencies, subcontractors, and design teams. • Reviews plans and schedules, and prepares or reviews technical specifications, contract documents, CPM schedules, technical reports, and estimates, compliance with environmental, safety, or other governmental regulations. • Participates in contract bidding and construction administration; may observe project action on site. • Address any issue of a job that needs immediate action and attention. • Supervises the work of less experienced engineers and/or technical support personnel assigned to the project. • Ability to participate in project pursuits, proposal preparation and interviews. • Participation at public meetings. • Monitor project budgets and schedule for compliance and profitability and form a remediation plan before the project suffers. • Control expenditures within limitations of a project budget. • Performs other duties assigned by Digital Engineering’s Director of Engineering Operations and/or Director of Water Resources.
Minimum Qualifications • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university or college. • Must be registered as a Professional Engineer in the State of Louisiana. However, applications will be accepted from persons who possess current licenses in states other than Louisiana. Applicant will be required to obtain a Louisiana Engineer License within 6 months of hire. • Minimum 8 years of experience with design of potable water, wastewater and/or drainage facilities. • Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in the required field(s). • Previous work experience in Microsoft and Autodesk products preferred (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, MS Projects, MicroStation, Autodesk ACAD and Civil 3D v.19 and above.)
