The essential job responsibilities of the Engineer 4- Facilities are to train and direct employees in and perform duties in applying engineering principles to the design of facilities construction projects, write specifications; and assign/monitor projects. Develop design drawings; provide training in computer software applications, i.e., spreadsheets and computer drafting. Provide engineering/technical assistance on design, budgeting, and preparation of construction documents. Write specifications for various projects; develop/ update standard specifications to be used in future projects; examine engineering drawings to determine conformity with Division standards, local/national codes, and general engineering/construction principles. Assign/monitor projects; establish priorities/track progress; compile project estimates. Meet with contractors/consultants to establish costs/limitations to planned projects and internal customers to establish scope of work on projects. Coordinate departmental work with Division areas/departments, consulting engineers, architects, and contractors; provide assistance/ accounting for all contingencies involved in projects; responsible for formulating and informing employees of operating, maintenance, and safety procedures. Provide design/consultations for various civil/ structural repair; provide engineering seal on plans as required. Plan/coordinate mandated facilities upgrade i.e., safety and environment concerns. Stay abreast of new engineering developments, construction codes/regulations. Perform other duties as directed.
Physical Working Conditions:
Works in office and outside under fairly good conditions. Subject to occasional construction hazards, climbing, balancing, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching and light lifting carrying up to 20 lbs. Walking/standing for long periods of time while making field inspections.

Qualification Requirements:
To perform the Engineer 4 Facilities role; you must: -Have a Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering -Have a Tennessee Professional Engineer’s license
-Have 6 years of experience in Engineering
-Have knowledge of construction/maintenance of building facilities -Possess a valid driver's license from state of residence
-Complete NIMS Training within 1 year of entering job
