What You'll Be Doing
You'll install, inspect, test, and maintain fire alarm and life safety systems in commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings throughout the Birmingham area — working alongside a team, not on your own. Day to day, that includes:
- Installing new fire alarm systems
- Programming and troubleshooting fire alarm control panels
- Performing inspections in accordance with NFPA 72 and local AHJ requirements
- Diagnosing and repairing system faults
- Completing accurate documentation and reports for every job
- Working directly with property owners, facility managers, and inspectors
Requirements & Nice to Haves
We're looking for candidates who hold NICET Fire Alarm Systems certification at Level I, II, or III — any level welcome, we'll match responsibilities to your experience. You'll need:
- NICET Fire certification, Level I, II, or III (or other equivalent certification)
- Experience installing and maintaining fire alarm systems
- Knowledge of NFPA codes and standards
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Excellent communication skills
- Physical ability to work on ladders, lifts, and in tight spaces
- Ability to read blueprints and system schematics
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to pass a background check
Nice to haves:
- Hands-on experience with common panel brands (Notifier, Simplex, Edwards, Fire-Lite, or similar)
- Low-voltage license
- Ability to operate a lift
